Happy days!

After almost a full summery fortnight with us here in Munich, today Jessi had to hit the road and return to Berlin. It will be the start of an exciting new chapter now that she has resigned as Brand Campaign Manager of unu, the start-up selling electrically powered motor scooters. In future she and her clique will be offering their services as a filmmaking team, stressing the cultural and the creative rather than the metrics of sales and marketing, closer to the emphasis of her MA degree studies at King's College London in Cultural and Creative Industries.

She certainly picked a good moment to be in Munich. Two exhibitions delivered plenty of inspiration. Design, Revolte and Regenbogen was devoted to the Art Director Willy Fleckhaus from whose work I learned so much in the seventies. The Peter Lindbergh show impressed not least by allowing visitors to the exhibition to leave with a souvenir 'selfie', cleverly montaged as shown on the right.

Jessi in Munich for longer than a weekend also meant that it was possible for her to spend time with her Auld Da regularly, to enjoy much longer and more far-reaching conversations than our Skype 'long desk' can handle. Even if Jessi and Tino and their colleagues will be making their movies mainly in Berlin or Hamburg, I look forward to butting in with fatherly advice whenever my intervention is invited! I like the work they have been delivering up to now.

Needless to say, it was a happy old man who learned that Jessi felt thoroughly at home working on her new MacBook Pro (the first laptop she actually bought on her own) from my flat! I do try hard not to interrupt and to serve fresh coffee at appropriate intervals.
